Why we should root for the Mavericks. (In response to aaxxreez.blogspot.com)
-
The difference between you and anyone else picking/rooting in this series would be the lack of knowledge you have in the teams (we all know basketball isn't your strong suit). While you can hate, you have to appreciate the drive and will of Dirk Nowitzki (apparently the only one with it on his team this series - though not enough credit given to the Heat defense minus Bosh) to win a championship. I mean, really, who would have guessed that having the 2 of the top 3 players in basketball today and one top 20 would get you in the finals? Really? Dirk is a top 5 himself this postseason, but he's on an island and needs his JET to bail him out soon. That's why rooting for the Mavericks should be at least on some people's to do list - the better team may end up winning, but the team that deserves to win is the team that represents how players of old did it - win where you were given a chance. There's a certain quality to that that will be remembered if the best international player ever (not JJ Barea) hoists the trophy this year - and it could be argued that if the Heatles do (which would probably be 1st of 3), there will be a certain asterisk next to it. Not a steroid or anything illegal, but an "eh, they were supposed to win, they paid for the best" asterisk. And that's not how champions have been made. But that's for another comment. Go Dirk (and Mavs.)

Spurs V Hornets Part Deux...
Now, on to the Thursday night potential changing of the guard playoff matchup...
But before I do, some thoughts on the Green Machine vs. the One Man Machine.
Am I surprised by the second game slaughter? Yes. Am I surprised that LeBron struggled again? Yes. Did I expect the Cavs to win the series? I thought they had a chance. Now? None of that matters. The Celtics, namely, KG are awake. Only game 3 will tell how awake, but they are here. The Cavs aren't the Hawks people.
I liken this matchup to a King returned to his land from a great battle. In his absence (17 year absence), there was another dynasty long gone (Bulls), and the establishment of a former empire (Pistons). But there was a young challenging empire with a ruler full of bravado that took the old King's throne - LeBron last year. But dammit, the true King of the East is back, make no mistake about it. And that is what I think we are seeing.
Its halftime right now in the Hornets v Spurs, and pretty close. Lemme tell you why the Hornets are going to win, on the record. While Ginobles made the last shot, and Dirty Bruce made a 3 right before that, the transition offense capped by the Yugoslavian bomber's 3 was not a scramble play, not a last second play, like the prior 2 Espuela buckets, but a regular CP3 led transition bucket.
Will it be an wasy game? I very much doubt it. This is Spurs country still, and you gotta acknowledge that Pop told them at the half that their season is banking on this half. Now, since I can't type and watch, I'm gonna watch.
Peace out. Find some time to play pickup ball.

The playoffs and office chairs
Like I was saying, without sayin much, the spurs vs. hornets series so far is unique for me in that I love CP3's game, and the enthusiasm and vigor the Hornets play with, but have a sense of loyalty for the Spurs, having lived in SA and rooted for them during my days there. But here is my analogy for my dilemma in choosing a favorite: You have this great leather chair in which you have had many great experiences. Written a lot of great books, made a lot of great deals, etc. But it's starting to look old. I mean, its 8 years old! Creaks a bit, leather is chapped, you know, the signs are starting and your thinking about getting a new chair cause you have to. So your browsing online (at a site, say, like www.sitbetter.com) and see this damn slick chair, with nice lines, great colors, and and a good price. I mean, whats there not to like about the chair? Absolutely nothing. And although I have no assurances it will look like this in 5 years, I decide to buy this chair - why? Because the warranty tells me that it will last me at least three good years, until they have to extend CP3's contract.
So while I don't think that you should base your buying your office chairs on nba issues, I hope you see my dilemma and logic in this series. Not a bandwagon in so much as looking for a new chair. That's all. And FYI, I have lived in LA for a while, and have rooted (sigh) for the Clipshow for as long as I can remember, so cut me some slack for being enthralled by the magic of New Orleans.
And if you really are interested in buying a chair, as I hope you are, I really honestly have to say that we have developed our e commerce site to help you find the right chair for you. I am not just a retailer, but a person legitimately interested in helping you find the right solution. As evidenced by my comparison of office chairs to my nba team allegiance!
We'll talk soon. Snax.
